Kurt's Story

September 22, 1990, is a date I will remember for the rest of my life. At the age of 23, I was employeed with a construction company as a project manager. That evening, while driving home near San Angelo, Texas, I came to the conclusion that if working twelve hours a day, seven days a week is what it took to be successful, that it was not worth it!

Suddenly at that moment, I felt God telling me to Go! The very next day, I quit my job and moved to Fairfield, Texas to team up with Pleasant Hills Children's Home where I served as a maintenance volunteer. Four months into my new journey, with empty pockets and dealing with hurting, broken children, it was time for another talk with God about my current and very frustating situation.

One day out in the pasture as I was bearing my heart to God, I stumbled upon an oak gate. Immediately, I heard God say, "Make picture frames". That old gate produced five barnwood frames and I was able to put $70 in my pocket, which at the time was a great deal of money!

As of today, we make thousands of frames per month and ship them all over the world! To God be the Glory!

The Rest of the Story -Kayla

I thought you might want to hear the rest of the story of Rustic Creations from the other business owner...his wife. Since the "birth" of Rustic Creations we have seen many blessings. Kurt and I married on July, 31 1999. We enjoyed the first few years of our marriage traveling to trade shows and Kurt introducing me to many of his wonderful customers. After several years of trying to conceive children, things were not going well and we were told that we would never be able to have children. But God had another plan.

Kurt and I decided to become a "visiting resource" for a child at Pleasant Hills Children's Home where we had served several years before. This young man is now a Lupo and very successful! God also sent four other children to Kurt and I through the "Foster-to-Adopt" program in our county. Our lives were forever changed!

We are so excited that we have been chosen to parent these awesome children and be able to raise them up in our family business at Rustic Creations! We have an incredible team that produces amazing custom barnwood products. We are just one big family ready to meet your barnwood needs!
